Hello!
I’m Sophie, a product design leader with over a decade of experience in human-centered, equitable design practices, interaction design, design research and design strategy. I have a background in ethnic studies with a focus on race and gender in America, and bring a unique blend of deep expertise in product design and development, in addition to a commitment to creating better outcomes for systemically and historically excluded communities. After graduating from the Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design, I went on to lead product design for IDEO's enterprise software studio, where together the team successfully launched multiple SaaS products aimed at helping individuals and organizations foster more empowered creative problem solving teams.
Currently, I’m the VP Design at Beam, an anti-poverty startup focused on creating better outcomes for low-income Americans by streamlining access to cash assistance. I lead a team of product designers that handle all aspects of product design from upstream strategic work, to creating pixel perfect, production-ready designs.
I have a passion for creating new things by empowering new voices. I believes in balancing process with speed, and bringing rigor and inclusivity to research and product design.
